I am a Navy wife and mother of five children (ages 2-12). Since I took on these roles, I have held jobs, earned degrees, and dabbled in full-time homemaking. What I’ve learned is that any investment in the direction of home pays momentous dividends in the areas of relationship, health, and purpose.
Currently, I homeschool my children, teach classes, and write here at Home, the Movement. I spend many hours a day at home – a skill I have learned. Muscle memory now often overshadows the strain of exertion, and things just flow. Not every day, but a lot. It is something that comes after many hours of commitment. It is the gift of mastery.
This project is the result of a decade’s journey to figure out what home means.
In the kitchen, I shoot for the paleo-primal lifestyle, but hold strongly that food is my fuel and not my ministry. It plays a part in bringing out the best in us, so our concern for its quality is of utmost importance. Let us lead quiet lives, mind our own business, and work with our hands – slicing. and dicing and sharing the fruits of our labors with our nearest and dearest. It is love beyond words.
Every day and every season, whether I am checking math lessons or carting kiddos, I aim for my day to be something beautiful for God.
For me, home stands at the crossroads of personal sanctification and social action. It is my hope and my routine, and it is my honor and privilege to welcome you. It is a master’s journey – will you join?
Love,
Sarah
